Choose the right length first.
In my experience building bats, adding an inch of length can change how a bat feels in a hitter’s hands more than adding a couple ounces of weight. A longer bat carries more of its mass farther from the hands, which can make it feel noticeably heavier through the swing.
Weight matters for durability, too.
With wood bats, achieving an extremely light drop generally requires removing more material and/or using lower-density wood. All else being equal, a heavier, denser bat will generally be more durable than a very light bat of the same length and profile.
That's why I don't recommend automatically choosing the lightest bat available. The goal is to find the right combination of length, weight, balance, and durability for the hitter.
My recommendation: choose the proper length first, then swing the heaviest drop the player can comfortably control with good mechanics.

Turnaround, Weight & Warranty
Turnaround: Custom youth bats are made to order. Current production time is approximately 4 week turnaround
Weight & Durability: With wood bats, weight and durability go hand in hand. Generally, the heavier the bat at a given length and model, the more durable it will be. Going to a lighter drop requires reducing mass, which can result in a less durable bat.
When possible, we recommend choosing the heaviest bat your player can comfortably control with good swing mechanics. This provides the best balance of performance, control, and durability.
Warranty: Every Woody Meadows bat is backed by our 45-day warranty. If you experience an issue inside the warranty window, don't throw away the bat, and contact us so we can walk you through the warranty process.

Every Woody Meadows maple bat goes through our fiber-compression process. The barrel is compressed using a steel rod, helping tighten the wood fibers and create a harder hitting surface.
